The Tale of Three Trees

Three trees had a dream. The first tree wanted to grow up to be a treasure box covered with jewels and filled with a great treasure. The second tree wanted to be made into a great sailing ship strong enough to carry great kings across mighty oceans. The third tree simply wanted to remain on the mountaintop and grow into the tallest tree in the world. It wanted people to look up at it and as they did so look up towards the heavens and think about God.    As time would have it the trees were cut down .The first tree was made into an animal feed box; the second into a simple fishing boat and placed on a small lake; the third was cut down and left in discarded pile in a lumber yard.    Their true dreams were realized when a special baby was placed in the animal feed box. The tree truly was holding a great treasure. The second tree held a weary traveler and some of his followers. A great storm came up on the lake the man stood up in the boat and said, “Peace”. The storm immediately stopped and the second tree found out that it was carrying the greatest king of heaven and earth. Finally, on a Friday the third tree found itself being pulled out of the lumberyard. It was being carried through a crowd of angry people. It felt nails being hammered into it. The tree was hurt and confused. Then on a following Sunday morning the sun shone and the third tree realized that God’s love had changed everything.    It made the first tree beautiful; the second tree strong and every time people thought of the third tree they would think of God.
